It is my mission is to enable entrepreneurs.
For me it is all about inspiring as many people as possible to listen to their gut and follow their intuition!!
So, I’m asking people who I think are great to answer my 8 in 8
– Eight quick fire questions, in eight minutes, not too much thinking – straight from their hearts.
Be sure to check back each week for a little more quick fire inspiration, I update them each Monday… (why not sign up to my mailing list to make sure you don’t miss out?)
1, 2, 3 GO!
1. What does being an Entrepreneur mean to you?
Being an entrepreneur means taking control, making my own decisions and never having to dedicate my life to making money for other people.
2. What did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed weekly. I remember my Mum buying me a Fashion Wheel when I was very small, and just becoming obsessed with it. I also used to set up tables outside my house when I was 5 and try and sell apples from our tree to the neighbours, so I guess it was inevitable that I’d combine the two things at some point in my life!
3. When did you decide to be self employed?
Coming up to 7 years ago now. I was working in an office at the time and had only been making jewellery for about a year but I was so desperate to do something for myself that I jumped ship as soon as I possibly could.
4. Who inspires you?
I’m too much of a realist and a cynic to be inspired by famous people or celebrities so my real inspiration comes from my network of peers. The work that they’re doing is outstanding and they’ve always got time to lend an ear or to give advice. I can’t put enough emphasis on how important that kind of thing is, as this sort of self employment can be quite isolating at times.
5. What is non negotiable in your schedule?
Coffee breaks and cat cuddles! Matt and I can both become quite obsessed by work and we regularly get tunnel vision but it’s become super important to take a few minutes here and there to remind ourselves that it’s not the be all and end all.
6. What makes you feel ARGH!?
Currently it’s that our designs are being counterfeited in China. I’m trying to resign myself to the fact that it’s just something that will happen the more visible we are, and using it to light a fire under me to continue being as creative as possible to stay ahead.
7. What do you do that helps you to feel more AHHH!?
I’ve actually been dabbling with meditation and yoga recently. It’s early days but I’m very optimistic that they’ll help calm me down during the tougher times.
8. What would you like your epitaph to read?
“She always tried!” Haha. All I ask is that, despite my many shortcomings, people acknowledge me as a person who didn’t give up on her goals and always gave 100%.
